Selvatico III: La Fila

The phrase “too early” doesn’t apply to the work of Will Franken. When Her Supposed Majesty Queen Elizabeth II shook off her mortal coil in September of 2022, a nation, nay, a world pretended to give a royal fuck. Rather than bow his head in faux reverence, Franken used the long-awaited demise as the springboard for his opening gambit to this third instalment of the Selvatico series. The line (la fila) to view Bess’s coffin is shortened dramatically by a murdering beefeater who snaps the neck of anyone who dares break the silence surrounding the monarchical corpse. Everybody’s favourite Nazi offspring Klaus Schwab also makes an appearance and Anglican churches are converted by local councils into bondage and discipline rooms for parliamentarians. Elsewhere, talk-show host Phillip Schofield is hesitant to come out of the closet for fear that people might yawn and the episode also marks the debut of right-wing commentator Rick Shreld’s “Uncle Sam’s Baseball Pie Podcast”. Once you wrap your ears around all the intricate layers of this piece, you’ll not be surprised to learn that Franken actually temporarily lost the hearing in both his ears shortly before completion. Also features a filmed performance of Franken at the keyboard crooning one of his old standards, “When the Evening Stars Sing Together”.
